The Proposal

by pauline on Aug.07, 2009, under What's Pauline Watching?

Went out last night to see The Proposal starring Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock.
If you’re a fan of chick flicks, you may need a tissue or two for this one.
Ryan Reynolds plays mild mannered overworked and tortured executive assistant to Sandra Bullock – aka Dragon lady editor in this movie.
I’m a huge fan of both actors and really enjoyed this cute romantic comedy.

I won’t say either of these roles with garner an academy award, but it was a great hour and a half immersion in what seemed like a comedy of errors at some points and a cute story with a happy ending.

If I were to give it a hanky rating, even though I liked it, it would get a three out of five. Basically, if it’s cheapie nite or it’s in the dollar theatres, absolutely go see it, otherwise, wait for the DVD, unless you are a die hard fan of Ryan Reynolds. His naked butt features in this movie along with Sandras. Meh, Ryan looked better in Blade 3.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

by pauline on Jul.27, 2009, under What's Pauline Watching?

Talk about a kid in a candy store! I absolutely LOVED Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. After watching the first movie, I finally realized that I want to BE a Transformer when I grow up! LOL.
Being the sci-fi, action movie loving gal that I am, this movie had my head reeling right from the start!
I can’t say much for the acting, this is Transformers after all, but I can definitely give a two thumbs up for all the action sequences, for the amazing graphics and wicked effects and absolute school girl glee over everything they exploaded in the movie! Oh yes, can’t forget, eye candy… Josh, Tyrese… – sorry fellas, I digress… anyways, I love it when things go KA BOOM! (I’m a huge fan of Mythbusters too! They’re always blowing stuff up!)

Kudos to Megan Fox – luv to see girls on bikes.
One day… if I ever manage to pass my Class 6, I’ll get my motorcycle license.
Until then, I can just dream about it.

So, if you like robots, things that go BOOM! and are into crazy scorpion robot chicks, and a reasonable attempt at a story, take Transformers for a spin!
As for me, I loved it, but that’s just me.

- Now, I can’t wait to see G.I. Joe – I have a thing for Channing Tatum – google him ladies, you’ll get it ;)

Star Trek Movie 2009

by pauline on May.14, 2009, under What's Pauline Watching?

The last movie that I saw at the theatres was Star Trek 2009.

As a follower of Star Trek the Original series, Star Trek the Next Generation, Star Trek Voyager and Deep Space 9, I anticipated the arrival of this movie with great glee!

What a new way to see James Tiberius Kirk beyond his Intergalactic Casanova gig! I also finally found out what Uhura’s first name was!

I’m a huge fan of anything sci-fi/futuristic, lots of explosions, good writing and I don’t mind good comedic timing either.

This movie had it all, and I really enjoyed it! I won’t spoil anything for those who haven’t watched the movie, but I would give it 4 stars out of 5.

The rating is not so much that the movie lacked anything, it’s more due to the fact that I really hate giving out perfect scores.

I always like to leave room for improvement.

;) P
